Outstanding State School Nurse Consultant Achievement Award
Ann Nichols (North Carolina), 2019
Ann is the North Carolina Division of Public Health’s State School Health Nurse Consultant. She leads an eight-member consultant team that provides continuing education and technical assistance to all partners in North Carolina school health. Ann completed her undergraduate nursing education at Duke University and her graduate work in Family and Child Health Nursing at the University of Cincinnati with preparation as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, minoring in both nursing education and administration. Through an undergraduate study abroad experience under the National Health Service in England Ann developed a life-long passion for population health issues and community-based practice. Her career includes service in public health nursing, school nursing, child health clinical practice, and undergraduate nursing education. Ann is proud to have mentored, precepted or taught many nurses who practice today in arenas that serve the ‘greater good’.
